Ballard Part 2 - Research Paper Example In this case, they would get an opportunity to work at different locations. Thus, they can break the boredom of working at a single location which they do not like or ease their discomfort of working in a bad location. Employees from food division and female employees find it difficult to reach the workplace and go back home. To handle this aspect, BIMS might plan for arranging a vehicle for the employees, from prime locations in the town. This vehicle would work as per the shift timings of BIMS, have set stops and connect all the areas where most employees come from. This would ward off the stress in the minds of employees on how to reach home or office in time. The employees must be allowed to participate in planning their hours of work, along with their manager or supervisor. Monthly efforts planning sessions could be held with the employees and their respective higher-ups. In these one-to-one sittings, they get to discuss their limitations, constraints and personal appointments during the planning period with the managers and schedule their shifts and hours of work accordingly. This participative intervention would make the employees feel heard to. They understand that the management is concerned with their problems and thus, build their trust and morale towards work and the organization. Further, this exercise gives the employees the feel that their supervisors are according them due respect, treating them in a fair manner. This would aid in building better rapport between the employees and their supervisors and reducing the dislike for the supervisors, which is found to be the main reason behind leaving BIMS, by many employees. Training should be provided to the employees with respect to work. These training programs must target in increasing their confidence levels, raise their enthusiasm and equip them well. The preparation must make them ready to take up work. Focus on improving the communication within organization is also

Macroeconomics Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 14

Macroeconomics - Essay Example Statistics have proven that good things are happening in the economic world in various regions. There are strong sales of recreational vehicles made from northern Indiana. The company has recovered and it is being referred to as the ‘white-hot center of the economy’. The CEO of Jayco projects that the industry will tie unit sales records in 2015 and break them in 2016. He argues that this will be due to the rising U.S employment rate and the continued low interest rates. The U.S as a whole is also emerging as the country that will power world growth in 2015. This is because companies such as Google creating more jobs to thousands while in Silicon Valley, Apple is selling tons of iPhones globally (Coy, 2014). The projected turnabout of the American economy is welcomed as a recovery from the financial crisis that was experienced in 2008-09. Major economies in the world such as Japan dubbed the financial crisis â€Å"Lehman shokku† as there was no growth in the global economy. The latest outlook by the International Monetary Fund called the global growth as â€Å"mediocre†. An economist by the name Blanchard views the stagnation of advanced economies remains a concern at this time. Also, emerging markets seem to not grow as fast as they used to without inflation (Coy, 2014). The IMF has projected the losers in 2015 are likely to be Argentina, Venezuela and Brazil. As to the Russian and the Western Europe economies they will be weak. The North America will be pretty solid. Growth is projected to be in South and East Asia as well as in most African countries. It is evident that the global economy is taking longer than expected to recover from the much debt during the last decade. Three year ago IMF had projected that the world economy would recover by 2015 at a 4.8 percent growth rate but to the contrary the expectations has been met only by the U.S. Analyst have argue that the disparity in growth rates among the

Cognitive therapy Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Cognitive therapy - Essay Example For instance, a depressed client hearing "please stop talking in class" might think "everything I do is wrong; there is no point in even trying". The same client might hear "you've received top marks on your essay" and think "that was a fluke; I won't ever get a mark like that again", or he might hear "you've really improved over the last term" and think "I was really abysmal at the start of term". Any of these thoughts could lead to feelings of hopelessness or reduced self esteem, maintaining or worsening the individual's depression. Usually cognitive therapeutic work is informed by an awareness of the role of the client's behaviour as well (thus the term 'cognitive behavioural therapy', or CBT). The task of cognitive therapy or CBT is partly to understand how the three components of emotions, behaviours and thoughts interrelate, and how they may be influenced by external stimuli -- including events which may have occurred early in the client's life. (http://counsellingresource.com/types/cognitive-therapy) Therefore, in order for me (as a behavioural therapist) to help the child, I should, first of all, know what experience/s or specific event has caused the child to develop this reaction to mealtimes and eating. It would take a lot of effort on the therapist's side, but it is still the client's prerogative to share his/her reason. In some cases, the client is not comfortable talking about their phobia, so it will also be helpful to have someone (especially an immediate relative) with them during the initial interview or interrogation. It is important to know whether the client is comfortable with the whole process of the therapy, since he/she will play a major part in order for the therapy to be successful. Besides, it is the client's behaviour that really matters; all we can do as therapists is to help them overcome the anxiety, depression, indifference, etc. or sometimes, help them to distinguish whether their beliefs are in tune with reality. In addition, still according from Dr. Mulhauser, clients who are comfortable with introspection, who readily adopt the scientific method for exploring their own psychology, and who place credence in the basic theoretical approach of cognitive therapy, may find this approach a good match. Clients who are less comfortable with any of these, or whose distress is of a more general interpersonal nature -- such that it cannot easily be framed in terms of interplay between thoughts, emotions and behaviours within a given environment -- may be less well served by cognitive therapy. Cognitive and cognitive-behavioural therapies have often proved especially helpful to clients suffering from depression, anxiety, panic and obsessive-compulsive disorder. CBT works by addressing the way the client thinks and behaves in response to similar situations and by developing more flexible ways to think and respond, including reducing the avoidance of activities. If, as a result, the client escapes the negative thought patterns and dysfunctio nal behaviors, the feelings of depression may, over time, be relieved. The client may then become more active, succeed and respond more adaptively more often, and further reduce or cope with his negative feelings. It is also important to establish the "we-will-work-on-this" relationship between the therapist and the child. Assuring the client that this therapy is not a one-way thing and that

Quality Systems in the Public Sector Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words

Quality Systems in the Public Sector - Essay Example This review is then used to arrive at the research objectives. The methods to be adopted to complete the research are discussed and laid out. This research is proposed to be limited to those areas of public sector enterprise where there is a direct interface between the enterprise and the public - the customers. The public sector provides an array of services such as housing, healthcare, policing, fire-fighting, water and sewage, national security and so on. While some initiatives have been taken to privatise some of these services, some, like healthcare remain within the ambit of public sector operation. We may consider approaching this subject from two sides. The first being from within the organisation, to understand the adoption of quality systems/ models, and the perceived effects and benefits to the organisation in terms of efficiency, productivity and costs. The second approach could be to research the quality systems and models adopted by the public sector and assess the impact these have had on the service user public. This proposal aims at adopting the latter approach. The importance of public opinion has been advocated as an important criterion to judge the impact of initiatives of the public sector in different policy documents (). Thus, in principle, this research will be divided into two parts: A. An appraisal of quality systems and models adopted by the selected public sector B. Collection, collation and analysis of public views of the impact of these initiatives. It is understood that, for this research to be meaningful, the information to be gathered must be scientifically defensible and actionable by the relevant policy makers and conclusive enough to convince the decision makers to use it. Literature Survey: The conservative party's victory in1979 was based on a manifesto that, among others, promised to 'roll back the State'. The party saw the welfare state as being morally indefensible because it promoted a culture of dependency, inefficiency and bureaucracy (Ahmad & Broussine, 2003). Accordingly, the government concentrated on the privatisation of state-owned industries and utilities and the deregulation of the financial services sector. Attention was then turned to apply the principles of modern management, as practiced in the private sector, to health, education and social care (Barlett et al., 1994). The response of public services to these pressures and changes were characterized as managerialist (Hood, 1991) and neo-Taylorist (Pollitt, 1993). Operations of the public sector have been criticised for their limited attitude toward target-setting and performance measurement (Hood, 1991). Pollitt (1993) noted that efforts for application of scientific management principles were the mai n drivers of change sought to be brought in by the public services in their response to the new challenges. Pollitt (1993) argued that the public sector considered the application of these principles as the panacea for all the ills that besieged them. However Clarke et al. (1994) argued against these concepts and noted that the changes 'represented a deeper ideological process that was transforming power relationships, culture, control and accountability' (ibid). The New Labour government was elected in May 1997. Its

Design and Technology Lab Report Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Design and Technology - Lab Report Example Lastly, DFA index is very critical assembly efficiency indicator of the component design. This value is directly proportional to the design efficiency. Pneumatic piston design improvement is shown in figure 3 where assembly efficiency was used.Figure 1 above shows the pneumatic piston original design.Furthermore, the attached worksheet corresponds to the subassembly and it is observed that the design efficiency is 29 percent( figure 2). The applied DFA method might be extended to a high-speed robot and automatic assembly. It has been found to be very critical majorly in situation redesigning whereby the operational time's detailed knowledge is well known or it could be calculated for the given product(Pugh 1991).In addition to this DFA technique explored in detail, other techniques of assembly evaluation do exist and include Lucas and AEM DFA methods. Summary In summary, assembly efficiency is considered to be a very critical measure or index in the DFA technique. It can be employed in the evaluation of product assembly and it determines whether the design can facilitate the assembly of the product with the aim of providing a foundation for the effective improvement of the design Figure 2 show s the redesigned pneumatic piston and it is with the worksheet that corresponds to the subassembly. When the worksheet of the original design and new design are compared, it is evident that in the new design, the assembly efficiency increased by 90 percent where the original design had 27 percent, assembly efficiency.

The Effect of Incentive Plans in attaining the Organizational Essay

The Effect of Incentive Plans in attaining the Organizational Objectives - Essay Example Basically the organizational objectives are intended by group of people who belong to the organization. The incentive planning is one of the strategies of the organizations. The incentive is a sort of gainsharing, which is promoted with the intension of encouraging the employees so that they extend their cooperation and work. The incentive is nothing but sharing a certain amount of profit to the employees. This is expected to help reaching the organizational objectives. Let us consider a model incentive planning. The total amount decided to be shared as incentive per year is 1 million dollar. This should be paid as a compensation for the work done by the employee. This might include a group or team that has been considered under the bonus scheme. The over all percentage that has been left to be distributed among the selected group or team would cover some 10% from the total profit. Incentive should be divided according to the responsibilities carried by the employee. The employees who deserve the incentives are managers and middle managers, under whom they control a group of employees. For example managers of various departments such as accounts, marketing, production, maintenance etc. are required to reach the strategic level, in order to do that they manage the group of workers who work in their concerned department under them. Members of the organization keep these objectives in mind and work accordingly. An incentive planning help the objective keep going in its way uninterrupted by any kind of break in running the organization. The incentive could be defined in other words as proposing a deadline for the concerned employees, expecting them to reach specific or given milestones in the particular area or department.
